The problem

A broad product range is exactly what makes a catalog hard to use.

Touch Up Solutions manufactures repair products for wood, leather, metal, and laminate. That breadth is the business's strength in a showroom and its biggest obstacle online.

Buyers arrived knowing the material they were repairing and the job in front of them, and could not narrow a large catalog down to the one product that matched. A visitor who cannot find the right item does not ask for help; they leave.

The direction

Structure the catalog around the material a customer is repairing, and pair it with a how-to library that answers the questions professionals and homeowners actually ask before buying.

What was built

  1. Catalog architecture organised by material and job type
  2. Shop section design across the full product range
  3. How-to library structured alongside the catalog
  4. Responsive product browsing

Details

  • Navigation keyed to the material being repaired, which is how buyers search
  • How-to content sits beside the products it applies to, not in a separate blog
  • Browsing built to stay usable as the range grows
  • Product pages readable on a phone at a job site
